Shabad in Nanak, Nanak in Shabad

This is a beautiful depiction of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, composed of the words of his JapJi Sahib. It gives the impression of how Nanak is made of Shabad – like we sometimes refer to Guru Nanak as ‘Dhan Guru Nanak, Tuhi Nirankaar’.

    I have this portrait with me at home and have been meaning to scan it and enlarge it. Since I now have a powerful scanner next to me at work, I finally got the chance to scan it. I have the huge 8mb file and can email it to you when I have the scan cleaned up (it’s scattered with scratches and tear). Interested? :)

    Excellent image. My interpretation is that Baba Nanak lives through the Shabad. Although I’ve never quite grasped why we say: “. . .tuhi Nirankar. . .” A farmer cousin explained it as such, ” . . . Guru Nanak is an example of how to live a life in the presence and witness to the Akal Purush. . . we worship his example not him as an Avatar or Manifestation of Nirankar.” Is this right?
