Worthless are those eyes
That beholdeth sinful visions.
Worthless are those ears
That heareth not the Lord's Praises.
Worthless are those limbs
That serveth not the Lord.
Lifeless is that mind
That thinketh not of the Divine.
O my Nanak, take me into thine arms
Instruct me, and lead me unto my Husband Divine.
O my Nanak, grace me with thy glance,
Thy Shabads sing into mine ears,
To serve my Waheguru, lead me to that place,
Abide ever in my mind,
Lest I lose my honour and my Husband Lord.
Open mine eyes, O my Nanak,
That I may see thine pure soul.
Speak to me, O my Nanak,
I so long to hear thine Divine Shabads.
Touch mine body
Empower it, that I may serve my Waheguru.
If only for an instance,
May I behold my Lord in mind
Make that moment an endless one.
O my Baba Nanak, O mere Nanaka,
This child soul seeks thine shade,
Protect me and strengthen my spirit,
Mould me into your worthy Sikh . . .
O my Nanak,
This poor Sikh seeks nothing more now, but my Beloved Lord
In thine soul doth He reside,
Pleadeth this soul, reveal the Divine
Who resideth in me, too . . .

Yes, I wrote the poem. I have a few more poems I have written, but they need to be dug out of my years of diaries . . . I’ll post more as I rediscover them. Hope they inspire you further, and help you come even more closer to our Guru . . .

By the calmness of the seas he subsits,
In the morning dew he dwells,
With the droplets of rain he dances,
With the fall of belief his fury he displays,
He is the element of WATER.
He is a Gargantuan being,
At the pinnacle of mountains life he witnesses,
Fruits of labor he lets us yeild,
And yet the very significance of his anger he lets be seen,
He is the element of EARTH.
With sacrifices he pleases thee,
The raging lights he displays for all to see,
The twinkling sparks behold our views,
Yet his blaze blinds us all beings.
He is the element of FIRE.
With gust of air he gives life to thee,
As change in breeze he flies past all mortals,
Sacrifices a part of him to let us breathe,
With blind eyes his twisters we do not see,
He is the element of WIND.
He is so far, and yet so near,
We see him there and turn blind on him,
He sends his messages in millions words,
Yet we are so blind we do not see.
He is the element of all SPACE.
